Full-service beehive management for private residences & business CLients

Bucks County Bee Company is a family run business based in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. We provide full service beehive management within ~25 miles of Doylestown, PA where we install and manage beehives for residential and business clients.  This way, you can enjoy your honeybees while a trained, state registered master beekeeper makes routinely scheduled visits to maintain your hive.  In the process of contributing to the sustainability of the honeybee, the bees will pollinate flowers within a ~3 mile radius of your hive, and the added benefit that the hive and the local honey it produces belong to you. See our store page for further details.

The beehive:

A beehive typically consists of the following:

  • Bees - Honeybee colony with queen

  • Stand - Two cinder blocks (also best for business rooftops)

  • Bottom board - This sits on top of the cinder blocks / stand

  • Deeps - Two deep wooden boxes that sit on top of the bottom board, where the honey bee colony lives and rear their brood

  • Supers - Two medium wooden boxes that sit on top of the deeps, where the honey bees store surplus honey

  • Inner cover - Sits on top of the supers and defines the top of the hive

  • Outer cover - Sits on top of the inner cover and protects the bees from the elements

  • Weight/strap - Strap (best for business roof tops) or brick to keep the outer cover from being dislodged by the wind

The beehive will be situated in a South facing location, ideally with a barrier behind the hive (e.g. trees, bushes, fence, shed, etc) and within a half mile of a water source.
