SOLD OUT FOR 2024. PLEASE USE OUR CONTACT PAGE FOR ANY QUESTIONS.
The full service beehive management is $1,099.00 per year. The price includes the management/consulting service from Spring 2024 through the end of the year. Clients are responsible for purchasing their own beehive and honeybee colony, which we will provide all the necessary information about; clients own the bees and the bee hive. Orders are taken on a first come first serve basis through February 28, 2024. Makes a wonderful gift for anyone that wants to be able to help the honey bee, gardeners, farmers, conservationists, etc. Order yours now before February 28, 2024 for installation in April/May 2024.
Note - The cost covers your first year of service for one beehive, which includes advice on sourcing the hive and the honeybee colony. Clients should budget approximately ~$500 for the hive and bees, which are purchased separately by the client and belong to the client. The beehive and bees are typically installed in April or May, depending on the availability of the honey bee colony, as well as routinely scheduled visits through to December, 2024.
If elected, a separate fee is required for each subsequent year, which includes routinely scheduled visits throughout the year (early Spring - December) for management of the hive acquired in the first year.
Bucks County Bee Company offers the full service beekeeping program for residences and businesses within a ~25 mile distance of Doylestown, PA, where we install and manage your beehive for you. Here you can enjoy your honey bees while a fully trained, state registered master beekeeper makes routinely scheduled visits to maintain your hive. You will be contributing to the sustainability of the honeybee, the bees will pollinate flowers within a ~3 mile radius of your hive, and the added benefit is that the hive and the local honey it produces belong to you. We also provide instructions on honey extraction.
Please reach out to us via the Contact tab for any questions that you may have; for example, if you would like us to manage more than one beehive, if you are a business and would like us to provide one of our own beehives, etc.
We will work with you on the configuration of the beehive, which typically consists of the following:
Bees - Honeybee colony and queen
Stand - Two cinder blocks (also best for business rooftops)
Bottom board - This sits on top of the cinder blocks or stand
Entrance reducer - A barrier placed at the entrance of the beehive that reduces the size of the opening
Deeps - Two deep wooden boxes that sit on top of the bottom board, where the honey bee colony lives and rear their brood
Supers - Two medium wooden boxes that sit on top of the deeps, where the honey bees store excess honey
Inner cover - Sits on top of the supers and defines the top of the hive
Outer cover - Wooden construction with aluminum outer layer that sits on top of the outer cover and protects the bees from the elements
Weight/strap - Strap (best for business roof tops) or brick to keep the outer cover from being dislodged by the wind
Color - White is the standard beehive color, which helps keep the hive cooler during Summer
The beehive is best situated in a South facing location, ideally with a barrier behind the hive (e.g. trees, bushes, fence, shed, etc) within a half mile source of water.
